Delete your account and data

You can permanently delete your Relocat account and all of the data associated with it at any time, with the exceptions listed under What is retained below. This page explains how to do it, what is removed, and how to request deletion if you no longer have the app installed.

Delete from within the app

Open Relocat and go to Settings → Account → Delete account. After you confirm, deletion is scheduled with a grace period of 7 days.

What happens after you confirm

We email you a cancellation link. You can cancel the deletion at any time during the 7-day grace period by following that link. If you do not cancel, your account and all associated data — with the exceptions listed under What is retained below — are permanently and irreversibly deleted at the end of the grace period.

What is deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes:

Your vault is end-to-end encrypted: safes, documents, and files can only be decrypted with keys held on your devices, and once deleted they cannot be recovered. Your Community Map profile is different: display name, city, and photo are stored in plain form so other members can see them, and they are deleted with your account except as described under What is retained.

What is retained

After deletion we keep limited operational records, such as authentication and synchronisation logs, and — in the one case described below — a photo held as evidence and the record of that hold. For details of what is retained and for how long, see our Privacy Policy.

If you used the optional AI-assistant features, the signed consent receipts and the assistant activity log are deleted together with your account. While your account exists they are retained for up to 13 months from creation, as described in the Privacy Policy — they are the auditable record of the approvals you granted and contain no vault contents.

If a photo you added to the Community Map is being held as evidence of suspected illegal content, that photo is kept until the hold is closed and then deleted; a record of the hold — but not the photo — is kept indefinitely afterwards, no longer linked to you. See the Privacy Policy, Section 11.

If you can no longer use the app

If you have uninstalled Relocat or lost access to your only device, you can still request deletion. Email privacy@relocat.org from the email address registered to your account, so we can match your request to your account and verify it without access to your encryption keys. We will then carry out the same deletion described above.

How long it takes

Your account and data are deleted by the end of the 7-day grace period, once the scheduled deletion runs. Requests made by email are actioned once we have verified them as described above.
